Blossman YMCA Preschool Program

Blossman YMCA Preschool Program

Welcome to the Blossman YMCA Preschool Childcare Center. It is our pleasure to work with you and your child. We are an early childhood education program operated by the Mississippi Gulf Coast YMCA and licensed by the Mississippi State Department of Health. The program is designed to meet the needs of young children (12 months through 5 years). Our goals are:

  1. To help your child to develop to his/her fullest potential.
  2. To provide a positive learning experience.
  3. To support and strengthen the family unit.
  4. To deliver the program in a positive YMCA environment of safety, fun, and caring.

We want children to look forward to coming to school each day and to enjoy learning with “hands-on” experiences. It is our goal to help each child develop individually, at his or her own pace.

Our program is designed to help your child build a positive self-concept that generates feelings of acceptance and belonging. We believe in partnering with parents, families and community organizations to nurture a spirit of cooperation and self-respect for self and others; reinforcing character building and a strong communication foundation.

The Creative Curriculum® is used as the foundation of our Preschool program. The Creative Curriculum® is a play-based learning curriculum that focuses on interest areas and fosters creativity in both children and teachers. Being creative means thinking of new ideas, obtaining information by asking questions, and learning through trial and error. In order for your child to derive the greatest benefit from these educational opportunities, he/she should be in regular attendance; structured education begins at 9:00 am. Children will not be received after 9:00 am.

The YMCA Preschool provides Breakfast, Lunch, Snack and Late Snack at consistent times.

The YMCA Preschool is a participant in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) program. The CACFP provides cash reimbursement to child and adult daycare centers for nutritious meals and helps children and adults develop and maintain healthy eating habits.

Through the Child and Adult Care Food Program, you can be assured all children are getting balanced, nutritious meals and developing/maintaining healthy lifelong eating habits. Proper nutrition during throughout life ensures fewer educational and physical problems later in life.

As a participant in the CACFP, the YMCA Preschool receives reimbursement for serving nutritious meals and snacks.

The Preschool is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Children are only allowed to stay for a maximum of 10 hours per day. If there are extenuating circumstances; exceptions may be allowed.

A registration fee of $165.00 per child and a first-week draft payment are required at registration. Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.  Registration fee is an annual fee due in July of each year.

YMCA Scholarship opportunities are funded by the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. The Strong Kids Campaign is our ongoing yearly charitable campaign. Financial assistance is based on individual circumstances.  At the YMCA, we turn no one away for their inability to pay.

For inquiries on availability in the Blossman YMCA Preschool Childcare Center, along with current weekly rate information, please contact the center directly at 228-875-0152 or [email protected].
