Move 2 Lose is an exciting program at the Mississippi Gulf Coast YMCA that coaches you through your weight loss journey one step at a time to make you a stronger, healthier and more active individual! Whether you want to lose weight, stay active for your favorite sport or hobby, or are just looking to find another way to stay in shape, Move 2 Lose has everything you’re looking for!

Before starting the program, the YMCA will hold a Kick-Off event where all participants will receive an initial assessment that includes a weigh-in and a body fat percentage analysis. To track your progress over the 12-week duration, weigh-ins will be done weekly and all measurements will be done at the beginning and end of program.

During the 12 weeks, you will attend 1 (1 hour) training session per week in small teams with one of our Certified Personal Trainers. Each team will be assigned a team color with corresponding team shirts. Every other week, the Health & Wellness Director will provide various lectures (exclusively to Move 2 Lose participants!) with topics including: Exercise 101, Nutrition Basics, Conquering the Grocery Store I & II, Eating Clean, and Eat More Plants. The information learned in these lectures is invaluable and will stay with you for a lifetime!

Weekly newsletters highlighting nutrition and exercise will also be received by all participants via email. Weekly team stats are given out at the end of each newsletter. At the end of the program, prizes will be awarded to the male and female with the highest percentage of weight lost!
