Group Swim Lessons
YMCA Swim Lessons, taught by certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors, help adults, kids, and families learn an important life skill and support them in gaining the knowledge, ability, and stamina to become strong and confident swimmers.
The swim lessons program is organized into three categories, each of which comprises a number of stages:
- Parent and Child (stages A and B)—develops water enrichment and aquatic readiness in infants and toddlers age 6 month – 2 years
- K3 Basics (stages A and B)- specifically designed for children age 3, transitions from parent and child to independent swim classes
- Preschool Aquatics (level 1–3)—develops personal water safety and basic swimming skills in students of all ages. Available for children ages 4-6.
- Learn to Swim (level 1–6) – Available for youth ages 7-17
- Group lessons consist of 8 lessons per session, ranging from 30 to 45 minutes, (this depends on the age of swimmer and stage of learning.) Parents are asked to remain in the Aquatics Department during the allotted lesson time for any child under the age of 8.
